“Halloween is a lifestyle not a holiday”
Andrei made me promise one thing this holiday season: do not under any circumstances purchase more Halloween decor. That promise was broken two days after he left for a 16 day trip to Romania after finding myself in the middle of a Spirit Halloween, feeling particularly lonely & vulnerable. I get serious seperation anxiety & metallic skulls help fill the void… what can I say? Needless to say our condo is now crawling with all sorts of new spook-tacular decor – much to Andrie’s dismay – although I suspect he secretly loves the festiveness! So today is all about how you can decorate your condo for Halloween WITHOUT sacrificing on that sweet, sweet square footage.
3 Tips to Decorate Your Condo for Halloween…. Without Sacrificing Space
1. Cobwebs are KEY
What I love about cobwebs is that they’re cheap, they take up minimal space & they instantly add spook factor to your everyday decor pieces and home accessories! They’re essentially big impact with minimal effort. I love adding cobwebs to picture frames, mirrors, shelves… the options are endless! The trick is to spread them out super, super thin so that they look more authentic and realistic!
2. Take Advantage of Wall & Shelf Space
Condo living means space is limited! So taking advantage of wall or shelving space is going to be essential… I seriously can not give up one ounce of my square footage! Even if it’s in the name of Halloween! Hang festive, Halloween wreaths on mirrors, or spook up your side tables by adding pumpkins and ravens here and there.
Budget Tip: I buy generic wreaths that can be used interchangeably throughout the holiday season to save on money. For Thanksgiving I keep this rustic, wooden wreath as is, add spiders and ravens for Halloween and then a big burlap bow during the Christmas season! It can be tricky to find evergreen holiday decor but if you’re creative it CAN be done!
3. Use Pieces that Blends with Existing Decor
You don’t want your Halloween decor to distract from your existing pieces. This will make your already tiny Condo appear even smaller… and it tends to make your space look just a bit “cluttered”! When Halloween decor hunting, opt for pieces that blend well with your existing home decor! Take these golden stacked skulls for example, this fits in perfectly with the existing barware! It blends seamlessly and doesn’t look out of place!
