“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up”
Gatorade has a long withstanding title of being a total staple in the athletic & childhood “sick day” departments. I mean, who else remembers receiving a bottle of Gatorade bedside from their parents during bouts of the cold or flu? Aside from the obvious downside of actually being sick, this ritual was pure bliss – my personal flavour of choice was always orange or lime! However, there’s just one teensy, tiny problem with this little “situation”… Sport Drinks are typically loaded with sugars!! So today I’m sharing this incredible [& healthy], lemon & lime, homemade sport drink with all of you!
Nature’s Gatorade: Lemon & Lime Sport Drink Recipe
I was inspired to indulge in a little “Gatorade Revamp” from the lifestyle blog, Everyday Roots, but chose to amend a few ingredients here & there (ie. Using coconut water as the base of this beverage). Coconut water is loaded with naturally occurring electrolytes such as potassium, making it the perfect ingredient to help replenish your body’s nutrient’s post sweat-sessions!
Ingredients (Serves One)
- 3/4 Cup of Vita Coco Coconut Water – On sale at Ambrosia Natural Foods for the month of July!!!
- 1/4 Cup of fresh water
- 1/2 Cup of lemon juice
- 1/2 Cup of lime juice
- 2 1/2 tbsp of honey
- One pinch of sea salt
- Ice Cubes
- Lemon & Lime slices
- Mix all of the ingredients together & serve!
Will you give this a go?!
