“Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la la la la la!”
John Ceiriog Hughes
This weekend I channeled my inner Martha Stewart in a MAJOR way & made some ridiculously cute Eco-friendly Christmas decor! With a glass of vino in one hand & glue gun in the other (please don’t try that at home), I crafted my way through what my university self would have surely described as an incredibly dull Saturday evening… however “mature” me absolutely LOVED it!!! Read on for three Eco-friendly Christmas Decorations & the inspirations behind them!
3 Eco-Friendly Christmas Decorations
1. Rustic Twig Christmas Tree Ornaments -Inspired by Stowand TellU
How CUTE are these rustic tree ornaments?! I recreated this from the lifestyle & travel blog Stowand TellU, which you can find here! This adorable DIY cost me a grand total of ZERO dollars which is absolutely key during this time of the year. I collected twigs from the backyard, used cardboard from a cereal box & twine from the kitchen… BAM! This would make for an incredibly fun arts & crafts night for the entire family!
Here are a couple other DIY craft projects using twigs:
2. Cinnamon Stick Candle – Inspired by Lushome
Need a centerpiece for Christmas dinner?! These cinnamon stick candles fit the bill for a festive, aromatic, beautiful tablescape… use candles & cinnamon sticks of varying size to add more depth! I already had cinnamon in the pantry, so again spent nothing on this DIY project! These candles were inspired by Lushome, they list-off 30 handmade Christmas decorations using cinnamon sticks which you can find here.
3. Holiday Wreaths
Aside from the tree itself, wreaths are arguably the star of holiday decor. You can have SO much fun creating eco-friendly wreaths & there is an incredible variety to play around with. I’m personally obsessed with this pine cone & acorn wreath by Fab Art DIY or this coffee filter wreath by How to Make a Burlap Wreath… ps I strongly suggest you browse their whole site it is SO stunning & creative!!
Do YOU make your own decorations?!
