Toronto Christmas Bucket List

“I planned out our whole day. First we’ll make snow angels for two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of tollhouse cookie dough as fast as we can, & then to finish, we’ll snuggle”
Buddy, Elf

Christmastime is an equal balance between “rip out your hair follicles chaotic” & “most wonderful time of the year”. When I’m not fighting through hoards of mall crowds who haven’t yet discovered the joys of e-commerce ** what can I say, I’m an old soul myself ** I’m ever-so-desperately chasing Christmas nostalgia. As a young adult pushing 30, I will literally cling to ANYTHING that somewhat resembles the magic of my childhood Christmases. So today I’m sharing my fool-proof Christmas Bucket List for anyone else who suffers from holiday-induced Peter Pan Syndrome. Tis the season!

My 2019 Toronto Christmas Bucket List

Winterfest at Canada’s Wonderland – We’re heading to Winterfest at the end of November & I’m so incredibly excited. I’ve always wanted to go to Disney World during Christmastime, so I was THRILLED when I discovered that Canada’s Wonderland decided to get in on that holiday marketing action. It will save me a **** ton of money on flights & hotels.

Watch One Hallmark Movie Each Weekend in December – Confession: I was today years old when I watched my first Hallmark Christmas Movie. Honestly… I used to severely judge those that aggressively indulged in cheesy Christmas movies. Now? Well, I’m one of “them”. Those movies are positively intoxicating. I plan on cozying up & watching one every. single. weekend.

Old Scugog Road Christmas Lights Display – This neighborhood Christmas Light Display has been a tradition since the early 90s & I am positively dying to go! The Old Scugog Road Christmas Lights Display is so impressive that tour buses actually make their way to this small town just outside of Toronto.

Christmas Tree Farm – Ahhh the smell of Christmas trees! We actually have an artificial tree, but I love going for the smell, hot chocolate & occasional horse drawn carriage ride. Here’s a list of 10 Christmas Tree Farms in the GTA!

Winter Bonfire – Winter is my favourite time of the year for bonfires! My family spends Christmas Day around a bonfire up at the cottage, but you can actually get permits for bonfires year-round in the city! Here’s how you can apply for a firepit permit in Toronto.

Make Eggnog Ice Cream – Yes. Your eyes ARE working…. eggnog freakin’ ice cream. Andrei & I first made eggnog ice cream a couple of years ago & it’s now a holiday staple.

Give Back – ‘Tis the season for giving back! There are SO many great ways to give back during the holidays. For the past few years, we’ve adopted a family through Moorelands Kids Christmas Sharing Program! Here are my 3 favourite ways to give back during Christmastime.

Invest in Experience Gifts – I totally & utterly prefer experience gifts over material ones. I promise you… you’re going to appreciate that time you went freakin’ ice climbing WAY more than the chunky knit that’ll wind up in a pile on your closet floor. Here are my favourite experience gifts!
