I have completely neglected our last two monthly wedding recaps for a couple of reasons. One – I have been way too busy attempting to conquer this whole lady/girl boss situation so blogging has taken a bit of a back seat AND to be honest there hasn’t been much to report on. HOWEVER September was busy in the wedding planning department. Mostly because we realized that we’re only five months away and if we don’t get our little butts moving the only thing walking down the aisle on March 2nd will be whatever’s left of our dignity. ALSO – my readership numbers went down ever since I stopped the recaps & I require these numbers to go up purely to satisfy my undying craving for your love and affection. ENJOY!
Picked our Linens, Chairs, & Dinnerware
This was a TON of fun! One of the perks of getting married at McMichael Art Gallery is that it’s a total blank slate & we get to pick out our linens/chairs etc. through our catering company. This means we REALLY get to make our wedding truly unique & to our taste. YAY. Typically the wedding venue supplies you with whatever standard linen & place settings they have available, so getting to pick out our own was a bit of an unexpected benefit.
Andrei & I went to pick out our linens, chairs & dinnerware with the lovely people over at Gervais Party Rental. They were the perfect combination of helpful & knowledgeable in terms of what typically works best for weddings, yet still gave us our space & let us pick out our favourites. We’re going with neutrals, and warming colours like burgundies! It’s going to **hopefully** be cold on the day of our wedding, so I want our guests to feel cozy & warm when they enter the space!
Designed and Printed Out our Save the Dates
Our wedding is going to be very much DIY-centric. I wish that I could tell you that it’s because my soul comes alive when my flesh contacts a glue-gun or that I fancy myself as a Millennial Martha, but honestly it’s because weddings are disgustingly expensive. Like DISGUSTINGLY. I therefore want to take on as much as I can myself because I just flat out refuse to pay the going rate for some of the wedding essentials. Namely – Save the Dates. I mean, honestly they just wind up in recycling so what’s the point in spending a small fortune on the thickness of a freakin’ piece of paper?
We had our Save the Dates designed by Andrei’s Company – NV Tech – & printed by our printer at home on Michaels Card Stock LOL. I’m OBSESSED with the design. I wanted pine cones (to tie in the winter, forest theme) done in a paint brush stroke & surrounded by paint splatter (to tie in the art gallery we’re getting married in). Andrei & I are pretty traditional, so the invites are quite classic! I seriously couldn’t love them more! Also – if you want wedding Save the Dates done on a budget (yet looking incredible & exactly to your style) send me an email & I will put you in contact with my lovely fiancé. Don’t you just love a good plug?
Took Engagement Photos
Andrei & I were actually DREADING our engagement photos. For a point of reference… Chandler from Friends would be considered photogenic in comparison. As SOON as a photographer tells either of us to act natural we immediately freeze up & look awkward AF. However our wedding photographer could not have made us feel more comfortable! He gave perfect guidance & direction which translated so naturally & effortless in our photos. He is literally a photography genius! We shot our engagement photos at my friend’s house which also made the whole thing feel just SO much more relaxed. I KNEW there was a reason I scheduled our whole entire wedding date around Daniel’s availability!
I can’t wait to post more – stay tuned! Photos by: Daniel Caruso Photography.
Until next time…
