Fall Entertaining Made Easy

“I can’t wait to admire stunning autmun leaves as they fall from my iphone screen”

I belong to the school of thought that firmly believes that Fall begins NOT on the Tuesday immediately following Labour Day weekend… but on September 22nd  as per the tilt of the Earth’s rotational axis away from the sun – because science, DUH! Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite literally as “basic betch” as it gets but I ALSO adhere to strict schedules & like my seasons to remain within their pre-determined segregated realms. AKA. you won’t catch me with a PSL in my perfectly manicured hands ’til September 22nd on the dot. It just feels wrong otherwise. However – that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to at least plan ahead for all things fall, & I assure you that from dinner parties to Hallo-weekends I’ve already jam-packed my fall entertaining schedule to the freakin’ brim! SO I thought that I would share some of my favourite fall entertaining tips with all of you today, because before ya know it… fall will be over! BOO!

Welcome Cocktails

Have a signature, seasonal welcome cocktail at the ready for when your guests arrive! This helps to immediately set the tone & properly welcome guests as they arrive! I’m personally a huge fan of this apple cider & ginger beer cocktail… mostly because it’s my recipe, but also because – bias aside – it is super delicious! When Andrei & I host friends for dinner, we typically serve our welcome cocktails with a few apps. For fall I’ve been eying THIS baked brie topped with figs, pistachios & walnuts… I’ll actually be testing this app out on some of our friends in a couple of weeks!

I also love having seasonally inspired infused water at the ready as well! This apple cinnamon water is actually SO freakin’ good! I typically put this out on the table so guests can sip on this throughout the evening & dinner.

Cook with Seasonal Ingredients

Fall is seriously one of my favourite seasons when it comes to foods! I love hearty, stick-to-your-bones meals & fall foods certainly don’t disappoint in that department. Butternut squash & apple soup, hearty chilis, cheddar & chive biscuits…. the options are SO endless! I would start off with this butternut squash soup before moving onto this 5 ingredient chicken pot pie by Jamie Oliver for the main course. I’ve made this pot pie SO many times & it is seriously always a crowd pleasure!

Tip: I usually make the chicken pot pie the night before a dinner party (to avoid mess & spend more time with my guests the night of), & then heat it up in the oven at 350 for a half hour once our friends arrive! For that matter… prep your soup ahead of time too! The more you can prep ahead of time, the easier your hosting experience will be!

Finish off on a sweet note! This gluten-free, vegan apple tart is so delicious & can be made ahead of time which is ALWAYS key when entertaining!

Set the Scene

Eeep! This is my absolute favourite part of fall entertaining! All of the fun decorations! Fall is such a fun & festive time of the year to decorate for, & I often find that it gets pretty overlooked! The key is to keep it subtle & select decorations that blend in seamlessly with the rest of your home so that it doesn’t feel cluttered or tacky. You can read my tips of how to decorate a small condo for fall here!

If you’re really looking to take it up a notch & create a super fun, fall atmosphere I highly recommend DIY aroma pot simmers! Try swapping out those scented, conventional room sprays or candles for a more subtle, natural alternative… like boiling natural ingredients to achieve the same outcome! LIFE CHANGING!

What are some of your favourite fall entertaining tips?!
