Wedding Diaries: 9 Months Out

“Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right & the other is the husband”

This month’s wedding recap is coming in a little bit earlier than usual because Andrei & I are off to freakin’ SPAIN on Friday! I’ll give you a minute to contain your jealousy. **minute** Now despite the fact that it’s only been twenty-three days since our last recap, we’ve actually accomplished more within this short timeframe than we have over the course of the entire five months since we started wedding planning. This makes me feel equal parts accomplished and sad. Accomplished because it shows how truly productive we can be together, & sad because it’s literally taken us five friggin’ months to get to this point. A concept which I feel is definitely an oxymoron of sorts… HA. Anywho – this month we’ve booked the venue, met with our florist AND booked the photographer. Read on for deets.

Booked the Venue – McMichael Art Gallery, Kleinburg

OMG I don’t think I have ever been more excited about giving away thousands of dollars to someone else literally ever. I AM SO EXCITED THAT WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT FOR THE VENUE! The McMichael Art Gallery is actually the most perfect venue for our wedding reception; it’s truly a wonderful blend of our personalities. Andrei was looking for something a little bit more formal & grand whereas I was hoping for a venue that felt intimate & rustic/laid back. AKA a seemingly impossible feat.

BUT the McMichael Art Gallery is all of this combined & so much more! It’s situated on gorgeous grounds that overlook a sprawling forest *** praying they’ll be covered in snow come the big day *** & has a very cottagy, rustic feel with stone walls & tall wood ceilings BUT simultaneously manages to feel grand for my fancy pants fiancé. Our guests even get to wander through the art gallery during cocktail hour! Fun Fact: Andrei is actually a big museum & art gallery buff – wherever we travel to we always have to make some form of gallery/museum pit stop & the fact that this gallery has such a cottage feel (para moi liking) it honestly just felt like such a natural fit for both of us!

In the end I’m happy that our search was so thorough, even if at times I wanted rip out all of my hair follicles, because we BOTH got what we wanted & this space is just SO unbelievably “us”. GAG.

Met with our Florist – Emily Hall of Threads and Blooms

Okay stop what you are doing immediately & go follow Threads & Blooms on Instagram NOW. I met Emily at a media/blogger event last year & have seriously been ogling over her flowers ever since. But actually, I can’t stop staring… Her feed is what literal dreams are made of.

We got together over drinks last week to discuss flowers & I honestly gave her my colour scheme, my vibe and a few inspo photos & said “I trust you, do whatever you think looks best”.

Her style reminds me of the English Countryside; very wild, soft, natural & unstructured when it comes to bouquets which I LOVE! I honestly can’t wait to see her work. Not to mention… she is the SWEETEST!

Booked the Photographer – Daniel Caruso Photography

I found Daniel at a Wedding Show in January & as SOON as I walked past his booth I knew that I needed him as my photographer. Going to the Wedding Show as a newly-engaged human can be SO overwhelming; there are literally throngs of vendors shoving one hundred pamphlets in your face all at once & Daniel was such a breath of fresh air amidst all of the madness. He was so laid back & had such a great energy about him & also never tried to sell me on one hundred things or get me to enter one thousand giveaways – when you go to a Wedding Show you’ll get it. Also, most importantly, his photos & booth were stunning! Most of his photos were set in natural, woodsy settings & I just felt like it was very much what I was looking for in terms of a vibe & feel.

I’ve been wanting to book him ever since the Wedding Show BUT it took us so long to nail down the venue that I only just firmed up the date with him last week!

LOVE the venue!!! Everything looks amazing, and it’s so nice to have the big decisions made so you can just enjoy the process. Have fun in Spain (I’m over here writhing in jealousy)
